You might be wondering how we at Groennfell Meadery ended up partnering with a Belarusian Medieval Early Music Band that covers rock classics. The answer is: Y’know, the normal way.

It started in 2016 when the band was touring the US. A mutual acquaintance, Jeff Folb the owner of the Vermont Renn Faire, suggested that we host the band at our meadery. We thought, “Why the heck not!”

We were blown away. It wasn’t just the band’s cover of Californication or their many drinking songs, it was the way that they made time to chat with just about every single fan who had turned up to watch them. Their sense that community extends through time and around this globe is incredibly inspirational.

Not only has COVID made the already difficult life of traveling musicians nearly impossible, but other circumstances in parts of Europe also make this an especially difficult time to be a Belarusian artist.

This brew itself was inspired by an ancient Belarusian mead with birchwood and wild heather; it was developed over months of conversation with the band.

So, until we can be together again, let us lift a glass to our friends and say, Skål! Or, as they would say, За здароўе!

Tasting Notes: 

Color - Pale Yellow
Aroma - Light heather and spring flowers
Flavor - Mellow earthy tones with flowers and a lingering honey finish
Closest Comparison - Vanir but with more floral notes
