Grimfrost is a Swedish company and a global community that builds a bridge between the past and the present.

With this mead, Grimfrost continues this mission by venturing back to the world of our Viking forebears, when mead was considered to originate from the gods.

Inspired by this ancient beverage, Herja is brewed with 100% wildflower honey, then aged on oak for a modern craft mead with a taste of the Viking Age.

  • ABV: 6.9%
  • Style: Wildflower honey mead finished dry and aged on oak
  • Tasting Notes:

Color - Dusky gold
Aroma - Vanilla and honey
Flavor - Honey, vanilla, and a faint bourbon-character
Closest Comparison - Just like Oak-aged Valkyrie’s Choice! Huh, isn’t that a weird coincidence?

    • Final Gravity: 1.000
    • Packaging: 4-pack of 16 fl. oz. cans, lightly carbonated
    • Ingredients: Water, Honey, aged on Oak

Draki, Herja, and Varangian are produced and canned by Groennfell Meadery and are currently only available in the United States.

We are not able to ship alcohol to the following states at this time: AL, DE, HI, ME, MS, RI, UT.

Lighter, crisper, can’t wait to let it age

BIG difference from last batch. Tasty up front mild oak taste that’s lighter than more mouthful meads like Wayfarer/Nordic Farmhouse/Psychopomp, richer than Buckland. I like to do a hard pour to release more of the carbon and let it sit a few minutes before drinking. I think it’s going to be AMAZING in a few months (assuming I am willing to let it age that long).

    Oak Expression

All the character from the honey, yeast, and oak come together brilliantly for a mead that warms your bones and your soul! I like to invert my can for about a minute or so before pouring into my favorite Viking vessel.
